Kurt M. Schultz
I'm Kurt Schultz, your dedicated personal injury attorney. Born in Royal Oak and raised in Livonia, I’m honored to represent individuals and families in Metro Detroit and the rest of Michigan who have suffered life-altering injuries due to the negligence of others.
Nothing gives me more satisfaction than being able to help people and make a difference in their lives through my work. In fact, as a victim myself of two significant accidents, I understand how dark and discouraging an injury can feel. I’m here to help you strategize a path forward and find the peace of mind you deserve.
My Journey
My journey to becoming an attorney was one of dedication and compassion. I first wanted to be a forensic psychologist, and attained a Bachelors of Science (BS) in Psychology from Wayne State University. I soon realized, though, that my passion was in helping people in more direct ways. For example, I noticed that people often received unfair treatment at the hands of the law. I wanted to make a real difference.
I worked my way through college and law school at Wayne State University (in Detroit) by bartending and waiting tables. From my experience working in these bars and restaurants, to my psychology background, I developed a deep understanding of the strategies humans take in order to pursue their objectives. I also started to truly understand the power of empathy.
My Passion
Personal injury law has become my passion and primary focus for over a decade now. There was a time when I envisioned growing into a large law firm with numerous associate attorneys. But then, I had an epiphany: I realized that my dream of being a lawyer wasn't about sitting at a large boardroom table filled with tailored suits. It was about helping people. That's why I went to law school in the first place. I wanted to be a lawyer, not a businessman.
As a solo attorney, my passion returned, and I could be more selective about who I represented.
My Approach
My approach is centered on the most important person in the room: you. I’m the person who calls you to discuss your case, answer your questions, and meet with you, even if it means going above and beyond. I often seem to play the Camp Counselor role, guiding people during frustrating times. Every person deserves to have someone on their side when they’re dealing with the inevitable psychological fallout that follows a traumatic injury. I’m ready to be that person.
I’ll accompany you to court, sit next to you during depositions, and help you achieve your goals. For me, it's not about having many attorneys or clients, but about the quality of work done and how well my clients are served. At the end of the day, it’s all about cultivating an approach rooted in integrity.
My Achievements
I am proud that the results I've achieved for my clients match or exceed those from any "Big Box" firm. For example, a client came to me after getting the run-around from a larger firm. Not only did the client not speak with the attorney shown in all the commercials for this mega-firm, but at no point did he ever speak with any attorney at all.
It turns out that this client’s case, initially dropped by the “Big Box” firm, was worth pursuing. So, together, we pursued it. The case settled for nearly half a million dollars.
This memorable case reminds me to trust my instincts and make myself accessible to individuals who need me.
Most of my current clients were referred to me by former clients like the one I mentioned above. This fact alone is a great source of pride for me because it means that I'm doing something right. Ultimately, I strongly believe in earning achievement—both personally and professionally. I put in the hours, work diligently, and ensure I deserve every win.
My Promise
I’ll be honest: I can’t guarantee a million-dollar recovery for every client, or even most clients. No honest attorney can make such a promise, and any attorney who does is simply telling you what you want to hear. But here's what I can help you: when you retain my firm, your attorney will know who you are, and you'll know your lawyer. I work for you—literally and figuratively. I promise honesty, timely communication, and tireless effort.
In the end, I believe in hard work, integrity, and treating you with respect. I'm a proud owner of American cars, not fancy imports. I value these things and take pride in them. A hard day's work still means something to me.
After an injury throws your life into a whirlwind, you shouldn’t have to pursue financial compensation and peace of mind alone. When you’re ready to start moving forward, I’m ready to guide you on your journey. Set up a one-on-one consultation with me today.
I genuinely give a crap about my clients. I will fight for you.
